Reflection on Technology Assessments

Technology Application Inventory
The Technology Application Inventory was a survey on how much we knew about technology. There were four sections to it: Foundations, Information Acquisition, Soving Problems, and Communication. Out of the eighteen questions in the Foundation section of the Technology Application Inventory, I had thirteen yes answers and five no responses. This section is where I had the most yes answers. Two of the questions I answered no to dealt with memory on the computer, which I know I need to learn more about. In the Information Acquisition section I scored my lowest yes responses. I only had three out of the ten questions. I definitely need to learn more about these functions on the computer. Many of these questions I answered no to were about how to use different files on the computer such as graphic, image, audio, video files. If I learned how to do these programs I would be able to create more creative projects. I had ten yes responses out of eighteen in the next section which was Solving Problems. The ones I answered no to again had to deal with different graphs and graphics. I need to learn these. I know they teach these at my school in the BCIS class. I need to spend more time there and pick up these different tools and techniques. In the last section of Communication I had eight yes answers out of twelve. A couple of the ones I answered no to again had to deal with graphics and charts again. I know it is probably something easy for me to learn. I just need to spend time with someone that knows how to do it. I know when I now and even more when I become an administrator I will need to know these systems. I will need to be able to make graphs and put them on powerpoint presentations.

Strengths and Weaknesses
The survey showed that the Foundations area was my greatest strengh in Technology. I know many of the basics of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excell. I would have to agree with the survey because I do not know a large amount of computer terminologies. it showed I am the weakest in Information Acquistion. I am not up to date on all the latest programs that perform video, audio, and graphics. I also do not know where many of the files and drives on my computer are located. I plan on spending time with the BCIS department and learning more about these technologies. I take a couple staff development classes a year on trying to keep up with some of these new techniques.

SETDA Teacher Survey
The SETDA Teacher Survey is about technology use at my school. I use technology everyday when I lecture with my powerpoint slides. Technolgoy is usually available at my school. I have a computer at my desk and have a laptop I use the powerpoint presentations. The school is installing mounted projectors from the ceiling so know I will not have to use my laptop and portable projector. I have six student computers in my room. I wish I had enough for every student in my class. When I give the students projects they have to work in groups of four or five so each group has access to the computer. Students use computers everyday when they get home. I try to have my students do research on the computer about once a week. This gets the students ready for college when they will have to look things up for themselves and it also allows us to get more in depth in our lessons in class. I am currently having them make their own powerpoint presentation they will present in front of the class. We have a computer lab and the library where we can take our classes to so that everyone gets a chance on the computer. The computers are newer and have good software on them. The students really enjoy the time they have on the computers.
